Redeemed and Respectful: Living the Gospel in Word and Deed

In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we begin a powerful conversation about honor, redemption, and integrity—both in Scripture and in our school community.

In The Holy Spirit’s Water, we examine Exodus 21:7–11, a passage that, though ancient and often misunderstood, reveals God’s heart for justice and the protection of the vulnerable. We explore how this Old Testament law served as a safeguard for young women in Israel and how it ultimately points us to the faithfulness of Christ, our Redeemer, and Bridegroom.

In The Grind, we celebrate the birthdays of Damion (12th grade), Kanye (9th grade), and Gayeon (9th grade). Elementary March Madness continues, and we invite our community to Berean Baptist Church for midweek Bible study. A special invitation is also extended for 2–3 men to join a Wednesday night micro-group for discipleship and spiritual growth.

Marked by Love: The Bondservant Life and Covenant Faithfulness

In today’s episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we begin April by reflecting on the powerful image of the bondservant from Exodus 21:1–6. In The Holy Spirit’s Water, we explore how this Old Testament picture of willing servitude—marked by love and loyalty—points us to Jesus Christ, who chose the path of obedience for our redemption. We also examine why Paul called himself a bondservant and how modern believers are called to live with that same heart of joyful surrender.

Hearts at Home: Faithfulness in the Details

In this final episode of March, Coffee with the Superintendent takes us into the heart of covenant living, where obedience begins—not in grand gestures, but in the faithful rhythms of daily life.

In The Holy Spirit’s Water, we begin a new journey in Deuteronomy 6:1–12, where God commands parents—especially fathers—to diligently teach His Word to their children. From the ancient practices of the Shema to the fulfillment of these truths in the life of Christ, we explore how covenant parenting remains essential for discipleship today.

In The Grind, we celebrate birthdays for Sam, Elijah, Londynn, and Isabella, and recognize the accomplishments of our Elementary students in Award Chapel. Our athletes head into afternoon matchups on the road and at home, and Chicken Nuggets headline the lunch menu.

In The Add-Ins, we unpack Parent Covenant Statement #8, which calls parents to uphold compliance, attendance, and dress code policies. Far from being about legalism, these practices reflect a biblical commitment to order, respect, and partnership in Christian education. Scripture reminds us that honoring even the most minor responsibilities brings glory to God.

Love Thy Neighbor: The Law Fulfilled in Christ

In this Sunday edition of Coffee with the Superintendent, we explore the final six commandments from Exodus 20:12–17—those that govern how we relate to one another as image-bearers of God. From honoring parents to rejecting envy, each commandment is fulfilled perfectly in Christ and offers us a framework for how to love others in fundamental, tangible ways. We reflect on how Jesus not only taught the second greatest commandment—“Love your neighbor as yourself”—but lived it to perfection, leaving us an example to follow. Through the lens of the New Covenant, we discover how the Law leads us to grace and calls us to live with humility, integrity, and sacrificial love.

 

In The Grind, we celebrate a special birthday for one of our youngest daily listeners, Emma, in the 1st grade, and honor Mrs. Garcia, our excellent 2nd-grade teacher, on her birthday. As we look ahead to worship, we’re reminded of the joy and importance of gathering with the church body.

The Law That Leads Us to Christ

In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we launch a new series titled The Mosaic Law: The Schoolmaster That Brings Us to Christ. Today, we reflect on the first four commandments from Exodus 20:1–11, exploring how each points to the person and work of Jesus Christ. From God’s declaration of His identity to the call to honor His name and rest in His provision, we see how Christ fulfills what the Law foreshadowed—and how Christians today live in reverent worship and spiritual rest.

In The Grind, we enjoy a quiet Saturday with no birthdays or school events, but we encourage every member of our BBA family to prepare their hearts for Sunday worship. We’re reminded from Hebrews 10 that gathering together with believers is not just a routine—it’s a biblical call to community, primarily as the day of Christ draws near.

In The Add-Ins, we continue unpacking the BBA Parent Covenant by exploring Statement #6: the call for parents to report discrepancies in policy execution. We consider the biblical roots of accountability in Galatians, Matthew, and Ephesians, and we affirm how clear, loving communication strengthens trust, unity, and discipleship in our school community.

Strengthened by Truth, Partnered in Discipline

In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we wrap up the book of Romans with a powerful final passage—Romans 16:21–27. Paul ends his letter with heartfelt greetings and a glorious doxology, praising the God who strengthens believers through the gospel, reveals His eternal mystery in Christ, and calls all nations to the obedience of faith. We explore the New Covenant reality that salvation is personal and communal and that every believer has a place in God’s ongoing mission.

In The Grind, we celebrate the birthday of Mrs. Douglas, our Admissions Coordinator and proud BBA alumna, who is currently on maternity leave. We also spotlight our Varsity Soccer team, which is traveling to compete at Northwood Temple Academy. We remind families of today’s Parent Teacher Conferences and the upcoming BBA Alumni Dinner on June 5, 2025.

In The Add-Ins, we unpack Statement #5 of the BBA Parent Covenant, emphasizing the importance of parents checking behavioral reports nightly and partnering with faculty to help students grow in discipline and spiritual maturity. With guidance from Deuteronomy, Proverbs, Hebrews, and more, we highlight how discipline is an act of love and why accountability is central to Christian growth.

Guarding the Truth, Growing Together

In today’s Coffee with the Superintendent episode, we examine Romans 16:17–20, where Paul gives a strong and timely warning about those who cause division in the church. He reminds believers to stay rooted in sound doctrine, to walk in wisdom, and to avoid those who serve their appetites instead of Christ. Paul’s promise that “the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet” offers hope, strength, and confidence to every believer navigating a world of spiritual distraction and deception.

In The Grind, we celebrate TiAri in 5th grade and Johanna in 2nd grade, highlight today’s middle school athletic matchups against Fayetteville Christian, and remind families that Friday is Parent Teacher Conference Day with no school for students. Plus, pizza is on the menu for lunch!

In The Add-Ins, we continue our series on the BBA Parent Covenant, diving into the importance of parents assisting their children with homework, reading, and writing—even through high school. With biblical insight from Proverbs, Deuteronomy, and Ephesians, we reflect on how academic engagement at home reflects faithful discipleship and strengthens the partnership between the school and the family.
