In this Saturday edition of Coffee with the Superintendent, we dive deep into the Levitical guilt offering found in Leviticus 6:1–7 and its rich implications for understanding Christ’s atonement under the New Covenant. Atonement for All: From the Altar to the Heart
Thursday Apr 17, 2025
Thursday Apr 17, 2025
In today’s episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we explore the final category of the sin offering from Leviticus 4:27–35—the offering for the common person. We’ll examine how this sacrifice demonstrated God's care for the everyday Israelite and set His covenant apart from other ancient legal codes like the Code of Hammurabi. We trace how Jesus, the Lamb of God, fulfilled this offering completely, becoming the sin-bearer for all people, regardless of status, influence, or wealth.
In “The Grind,” we celebrate birthdays for Annabelle, Serenity, Elijah, and Mrs. Smith, who wears many hats at BBA. We also preview the Upper School awards chapel and double-header athletics on the home field, and we close with a look at the importance of meaningful faculty-student relationships, highlighting the powerful statistic that most of our Upper School students feel supported by specific staff members.

Tuesday Apr 15, 2025
Tuesday Apr 15, 2025
On this April 15, 2025, episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we examine the sin offering for the nation found in Leviticus 4:13–21. What does it mean for a people to sin corporately—and how is such guilt addressed in God’s economy of grace? We explore how the ancient practice of sacrifice pointed to Christ’s ultimate atonement for the world's sins. Alongside the biblical exposition, we highlight how this ties to Daniel’s intercessory prayer and Paul’s theology in Romans 1. In “The Grind,” we update you on Varsity Soccer, Middle School Softball, Taco Tuesday, and the looming tax deadline. In “The Add-Ins,” we reflect on accreditation practices that promote spiritual and operational growth in school leadership.

Monday Apr 14, 2025
Monday Apr 14, 2025
In today’s episode of Coffee with the Superintendent (April 14, 2025), we open the Book of Leviticus to explore the Sin Offering—specifically the one commanded for the priests. Why did the law require the priest to offer for his own sin first? What does this teach us about our own need for cleansing and the holiness required to intercede for others? And how does this shadow find its fulfillment in the person and work of Jesus Christ?
We examine how the perfect sacrifice of Christ not only fulfilled the priestly sin offering but also elevated Him as our better, eternal High Priest. Through passages in Hebrews and the Gospels, we unpack the deep spiritual truth that Jesus not only made the offering—He became the offering.
We also celebrate birthdays, student theater performances, and afternoon athletic matchups in The Grind, and continue our ongoing discussion in The Add-Ins with a look at leadership responsibilities in the context of Christian school accreditation.
Join us as we sip, study, and seek to walk faithfully—together.

Peace at the Altar, Peace in Christ
Sunday Apr 13, 2025
Sunday Apr 13, 2025
In this Palm Sunday episode of Coffee with the Superintendent (April 13, 2025), we journey through Leviticus 3 to explore the peace offering—a sacred ritual of shared fellowship, thanksgiving, and worship in ancient Israel. We uncover how every detail of the peace offering—from the laying on of hands to the burning of fat—pointed forward to Jesus Christ, our true and perfect peace.
We reflect on how Christ fulfilled this offering, not just through sacrifice, but by becoming our peace and reconciling us to God. Along the way, we also pause to honor Palm Sunday’s significance in redemptive history as the entry point to Holy Week. Through this time of teaching and reflection, we’re called to live in 2025 as recipients of peace, agents of reconciliation, and people of praise.
This episode includes school announcements, student birthdays, and a devotional challenge to embody Christ in our lives today.

The Grain Offering: A Life of Surrender and Sustenance
Saturday Apr 12, 2025
Saturday Apr 12, 2025
In today’s episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we dive into Leviticus 2 and examine the rich symbolism of the grain offering—a sacrifice of fine flour, oil, and frankincense that was completely absent of blood, yet deeply expressive of worship, provision, and surrender. We explore how every component of the offering foreshadowed Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life, and how His perfect life and sacrifice fulfilled even the smallest detail of the Mosaic Law. From the absence of leaven to the presence of salt, each instruction pointed toward the holiness and covenantal faithfulness of God.
As we unpack how Christ became both our offering and sustenance, we challenge ourselves in 2025 to live lives seasoned with grace, saturated with the Spirit, and wholly devoted to the Lord. Whether in school, at home, or within our communities, we are reminded that we offer not grain, but ourselves—living sacrifices for the glory of God.
So pour yourself a fresh cup and join us for this reflective journey through the Scriptures and into the heart of worship.
